Gualdo Village

The farm house enjoys all the facilities of Gualdo, a pretty medieval village, with around 1000 inhabitants. The village is situated at 650 m above sea level and has some spectacular views! On clear days you can see the Sibillini mountains on one side and Monte Conero, a nature park at the coast, on the other side.

Local amenities include 2 supermarkets, a bakery, a butcher, a bank (with ATM), a grocery store, 2 restaurants, 3 coffee bars, a petrol station, a laundry shop and a post office. There’s a lovely little market every Tuesday for fresh produce.

The nearby village and health resort of Sarnano has won awards for being one of the best/most beautiful villages in Italy.  During the winter here, you can ski the mountain slopes and the rest of the year walking, cycling and bathing in the thermal SPA are popular.

Besides Sarnano with its lively shops restaurants and museum, this whole area is dotted with charismatic medieval towns packed with historic art, abbeys and castles.

Amandola (white truffle village and 1 of the communities inside the Sibillini National Park), San Ginesio (like Sarnano 1 of the 200 most beautiful village of Italy and part of the Sibillini National Park), Penna San Giovanni, Servigliano and Ponte Sant’Angelo to name but a few.

Local Beaches

Along the coast most of the beaches are sandy. The main seaside resorts are Porto Recanati, Porto Potenza Picena and Civitanova Marche. The seaside resorts of the neighbouring provinces are also easy to reach, such as the Riviera del Conero in Ancona, Sant’Elpidio Mare in Fermo and Grottammare in Ascoli Piceno.

Measuring 276 square miles (714 square kilometres)

The house overlooks the Sibillini Mountains range where ten peaks soar above 6,560 feet (2,000 meters), the highest being Mount Vettore, which tops out at 8,123 feet (2,476 meters).

The park is home to 1,800 plant species and when the skiing season is over, these same slopes burst into a riot of colour with a wild bouquet of mountain flowers including edelweiss, pasqueflowers, martagon lilies, bearberries, and various orchids.

Animal life includes wolves and wild mountain cats as well as prickly porcupines. Roe deer have recently been reintroduced. Golden eagles, peregrine falcons, eagles, owls, goshawks, snow finches, and sparrow hawks fill the skies.

If you enjoy adventure sports, mountain biking, horseback riding, hang gliding, paragliding, and climbing are all popular activities here.

Local delicacies

Dining locally is still quite reasonably priced, and a smorgasbord of cured meats is always on offer. Other tasty local fare includes apples, honey, truffles, mushrooms, chestnuts, chickpeas, and vin cotto (cooked wine.)
