This was the home and workshop of the world famous German artist Hans Werner Geerdts, and in fact, you can still find some of his work in the workshop at the riad.  There are also beautiful original features through-out.  For example beautiful artwork on the ceilings and wall panels.

As you enter the riad there is a beautiful patio courtyard with collonades,mature citrus trees and a well.  There is also a lovely shady bhou (chill-out area), the perfect place to cool off in the summer.  A large, light sitting room opens onto the courtyard and there is also a ground floor bedroom, ensuite bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen on the ground floor.

On the first floor is a wonderful old Douiria apartment - a self-contained area that gives the riad very flexible accommodation potential.  In the apartment there is a central sitting room with a fireplace and beautiful balcony.  There is also a children’s bedroom and office. 

Outside the Douiria there are two further bedrooms, one of which is a mezzanine bedroom with ensuite bathroom and lovely elegant corridors.  The artist’s studio is accessed up some rickety old wooden stairs.

The studio itself is up on the roof terrace level.  The terrace is large and there is also a full size kitchen, a store room ( that could easily become an extra bedroom) and a shady pergola area as well as space to soak up the sun.

Marrakech never fails to mesmerise all the senses - exotic sights, sounds and smells around every corner. The city has great style, be it the opulence and luxury of the spas and hammams, superb restaurants, verdant gardens and beautiful architecture or its sense of heritage and hospitality.

The medina is unique, soaking up the atmosphere of the souks during the day and strolling around the main square at night to see the traditional musicians, dancers, story tellers and food stalls is all part of the experience.

The city is an ideal base to explore the Atlas Mountains an hour to the south, the desert to the east and the coast to the west. Marrakech is a short flight from the UK, just 3hrs from London, yet it feels like a completely different world.
